of Salvisa - Kentucky Advocate at Danville -
"Death.--Of
Pneumonia,
at his residence in this county [Mercer], on
Friday last, Dr. R.A.Nelson, aged 71 years.
The deceased
was a minister of the Baptist church, and also a
physician.
He came from Virginia [Hanover County], and
had been living in this county 38 years.
We learn that he
was a very worthy and exemplary citizen.
His remains were
buried in the Old Providence burial ground on Saturday,
after appropriate religious services by Eld. W. P.
Harvey."
His date of death was in fact 14 April
1876.
He was my great-grandfather through his son John
Lawrence Nelson (1844-1897) who married Margaret Bell
Stewart (1861-1949)
;at her home in Clover
Bottom, Woodford County, Kentucky, July 25, 1883.
Their
son was Robert Elgin Nelson, Sr. (1893-1979), my father.
